Exploring the Legend of Shangri-la (ZhongDian 2002)

Novelist James Hilton first created the term Shangri-la in "The Lost Horizon "
in the 1930's. It was described as a fictional place of mystical charm and
spiritual power high in the Asian plateau.

Peter Goullart, author of the "The Forgotten Kingdom" wrote about the Lamasery
in the Shangri Mountain (Shangri-la) in LiJiang in the 1950's. It is known as
WenFengSi of WenBiShan Mountain today.

The Hotel Shangri-la conveys the concept of a tropical paradise on earth in
their properties around the world. ZhongDian Zang (Tibetan) Nationality Autonomous
County won the official title of Shangri-la in 2002.
